President Murmu and PM Modi Lead Nation in Tribute on Vijay Diwas

New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spearheaded the nation’s tribute on Vijay Diwas this Tuesday, honoring the martyrs of the 1971 conflict.
This momentous victory not only marked India’s military success over Pakistan but also facilitated the emergence of Bangladesh as a sovereign state.
In her message shared on the social media platform X, President Murmu conveyed her deep appreciation for the Bravehearts, stating: "On Vijay Diwas, I honor our heroic soldiers who exhibited unmatched bravery during the 1971 war, clinching victory for India. A grateful nation commemorates the ultimate sacrifice of our heroes whose tales motivate every Indian and will continue to be a source of national pride."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reflected on the extraordinary courage and commitment displayed by the soldiers during the 1971 conflict.
In his tribute, he noted: "Today, on Vijay Diwas, we celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of the valiant soldiers who played a crucial role in India’s historic triumph in 1971. Their selfless commitment and steadfast determination protected our nation and brought us glory. This day stands as a tribute to their remarkable valor and unyielding spirit. Their sacrifices will eternally inspire future generations and hold a profound place in our nation's narrative."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the unwavering spirit of the Indian armed forces, remarking: "On this significant occasion of Vijay Diwas, the nation salutes the courage and sacrifices of our armed forces. Their steadfast bravery and patriotism ensured the safety of our country. India will always remember their sacrifice and service."
Vijay Diwas commemorates the day when India secured a decisive victory over Pakistan in 1971, leading to the liberation of Bangladesh. India’s involvement included military intervention, training the Mukti Bahini (Bangladeshi freedom fighters), and direct support that resulted in the capitulation of a substantial number of Pakistani troops.
