Bhubaneswar, March 24 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu, upon her arrival at Bhubaneswar International Airport on Monday, proceeded to Nayagarh district, where she paid her respects at the illustrious Nilamadhab Temple.
During her two-day trip to Odisha, President Murmu emphasized the need for initiatives to transform Kaliapalli village, which is steeped in the Jagannath culture, into a prominent tourist attraction.
Further, she engaged in discussions concerning the temple and the challenges faced by its servitors. President Murmu later attended the foundation day celebration of Bharatiya Biswabasu Shabar Samaj in Kaliapalli.
While addressing a gathering in Kaliapalli village, she remarked, “The breathtaking scenery of this region is highly appealing. It possesses the potential to emerge as a favored tourist spot.”
The President expressed optimism that infrastructure development in this region would draw tourists and pilgrims, thereby enhancing the local economy.
She called on everyone to participate in the advancement of this area.
Additionally, she encouraged collective efforts to harness the opportunities in Nayagarh across various sectors such as agriculture, handicrafts, and tourism.
President Murmu highlighted that a nature-friendly lifestyle is a hallmark of Indian culture and a vital aspect of tribal existence.
She noted that tribal communities revere forests and trees as deities, stating, “In tribal belief, the spirits of their ancestors reside within the forest. This conviction is a powerful mantra for forest conservation.”
Moreover, she pointed out that the government is launching several initiatives to empower tribal communities while safeguarding and promoting their art and culture.
President Murmu urged them to stay informed about welfare programs and utilize these benefits, asserting that the success of government initiatives relies on public collaboration and engagement.
It is noteworthy that the President is expected to stay overnight at Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and return to Delhi on Tuesday.
