New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a four-day tour of Goa, Karnataka, and Jharkhand from December 27 to 30, as confirmed by an official on Friday.
She will depart for Goa on the evening of December 27. On Sunday, the President is scheduled to undertake a sea sortie in a submarine from Karwar Harbour, Karnataka.
On December 29, she will participate in the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and will also address the 15th convocation ceremony at NIT, Jamshedpur.
On December 30, the President will address an Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh - Kartik Jatra at Gumla, Jharkhand, according to an official statement.
Earlier that day, President Murmu awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 20 children from 18 states and union territories, recognizing their outstanding achievements in various domains, including art, culture, sports, and innovation.
During her speech, President Murmu conveyed her blessings to the awardees and congratulated their families.
“I extend my blessings to all the children. These young achievers have brought pride to their families and communities. I also congratulate their parents and family members for their unwavering support,” she expressed.
Highlighting the day's importance, President Murmu noted that Veer Bal Diwas is commemorated annually on December 26 to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the Sahibzades, the sons of Sikhism’s tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
“Do you know why we celebrate Veer Bal Diwas? There’s a profound and inspiring history behind it,” she stated, appreciating Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi and her team for organizing the ceremony for these talented children.
Reflecting on the historical significance, President Murmu recalled that approximately 320 years ago, Guru Gobind Singh and his four sons made the ultimate sacrifices for righteousness and faith.
“On this day, we particularly remember his two younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. Their valour continues to inspire generations, and their names are revered in India and throughout the world,” she stated.
