New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a four-day journey to Goa, Karnataka, and Jharkhand from December 27 to 30, as confirmed by an official announcement on Friday.
She will depart for Goa on the evening of December 27. On Sunday, the President plans to participate in a sea sortie aboard a submarine from Karwar Harbour in Karnataka.
On December 29, she will honor the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. That same day, she will also be the keynote speaker at the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT Jamshedpur.
On December 30, the President will address an Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh - Kartik Jatra at Gumla, Jharkhand, according to an official statement.
Earlier today, she presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 20 children from 18 states and union territories, recognizing their outstanding contributions in sectors like art, culture, sports, and innovation.
While addressing the audience, President Murmu offered her blessings to the award recipients and congratulated their families.
“I extend my blessings to all the children. These young achievers have made their families and communities proud. I also commend their parents and family members for their unwavering support,” she remarked.
Discussing the significance of the day, she noted that Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated annually on December 26 to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the Sahibzades, the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhism.
“Do you know the reason we celebrate Veer Bal Diwas? There is a profound and inspiring history behind it,” she stated, while praising Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi and her team for organizing the award ceremony for such talented youths.
Reflecting on the historical context, President Murmu recalled that approximately 320 years ago, Guru Gobind Singh and his four sons made supreme sacrifices for the sake of righteousness and faith.
“On this day, we specifically remember his two younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. Their bravery continues to inspire generations, and their names are revered in India and worldwide,” she concluded.
