New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a four-day tour covering Goa, Karnataka, and Jharkhand starting Saturday, as per official reports.
She will depart for Goa on Saturday evening, and on Sunday, the President is scheduled to participate in a sea sortie aboard a submarine from Karwar Harbour in Karnataka.
On December 29, she will honor the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and will also address the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT, Jamshedpur.
The following day, December 30, President Murmu will address the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh - Kartik Jatra at Gumla, Jharkhand, according to an official statement.
Earlier, on Friday, the President awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 20 children from 18 states and union territories, acknowledging their outstanding achievements across various sectors including art, culture, sports, and innovation.
While addressing the assembly, President Murmu expressed her blessings to the awardees and congratulated their families.
“I extend my blessings to all the children. These young achievers have brought pride to their families and communities. I also congratulate their parents and family members for their support,” she remarked.
Commenting on the significance of the occasion, the President mentioned that Veer Bal Diwas is commemorated annually on December 26 to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Sahibzades, the sons of Sikhism’s tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
“Do you know why we celebrate Veer Bal Diwas? There is a long and inspiring history behind it,” she stated, while also praising Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi and her team for organizing the award ceremony for such talented children.
Reflecting on historical importance, President Murmu noted that approximately 320 years ago, Guru Gobind Singh and his four sons made supreme sacrifices for righteousness and faith.
“On this day, we particularly remember his two younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. Their courage continues to inspire generations, and their names are revered in India and beyond,” she concluded.
