Bengaluru, Oct 20 (NationPress) The Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, is facing public embarrassment due to his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, who has launched a sharp critique against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, according to BJP Rajya Sabha member Lahar Singh Siroya on Monday.
In a conversation with IANS, Siroya emphasized that Priyank Kharge's remarks appear to be a maneuver to "enhance his political ambitions" and "win favor with Rahul Gandhi" by echoing sentiments appreciated by the former Congress leader.
“Such comments are quite inappropriate during the festive season of Diwali. Allow me to send my Diwali wishes to all. Priyank Kharge, in his attempt to advance his political prospects and vie for either the Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister position, seems to be adopting a rhetoric that resonates with Rahul Gandhi,” he stated.
“Displaying the arrogance of being the son of AICC president, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank has been making irrelevant comments outside his department and issuing reckless allegations. His unfounded claims against the RSS are regrettable, as these topics do not pertain to his role,” Siroya noted.
The BJP MP highlighted the considerable sacrifices made by RSS for the country, particularly its role during national crises.
Siroya accused the Karnataka Minister of solely aiming to satisfy Rahul Gandhi, resulting in embarrassment for his father, who will inevitably face national repercussions due to his position as Congress president.
He drew a comparison, stating that just as Priyank Kharge has been allegedly involved in land transactions under the guise of trusts, he is now “bringing shame to Mallikarjun Kharge, who himself criticizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He urged the Minister to take stock of his family’s issues, which are reportedly entangled in "corruption and land encroachments."
“His family is mired in corruption and land encroachment allegations. Mallikarjun Kharge is preoccupied with appeasing Rahul Gandhi, a stance that has negatively impacted both national politics and the state of Karnataka. The constituents of Karnataka will not accept a senior leader who diminishes himself to such subservience,” Siroya asserted.
Regarding the caste census, he remarked, “Now is the time for all political entities to assess how far they are willing to go in fracturing the country along caste and religious lines. A similar divide was attempted during former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily's administration in 1994, leading to Congress's decline to third place in state elections.”
Siroya alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is pushing this agenda to ensure no other leader, including Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, has the opportunity to ascend to the Chief Minister role after him.
In the forthcoming elections, the Congress party is poised to experience a significant setback. Siroya claimed that out of 28 constituencies in Bengaluru, particularly within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits, the party will be unable to secure even a single seat.
This situation transcends mere vote-bank politics; it could lead to the downfall of the Congress party, Siroya concluded.
