Nilambur (Kerala), June 5 (NationPress) The upcoming by-election on June 19 for Kerala's Nilambur Assembly constituency is ramping up as prominent figures prepare to engage in the campaign, including Wayanad Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Priyanka is set to be in the area from June 12 to 14, while Vijayan is expected to arrive on June 13 and remain until June 15.
This by-election became necessary after the unexpected resignation of two-time sitting Left-supported independent legislator, P.V. Anvar, due to significant disagreements with Vijayan.
Following his resignation, Anvar expressed support for the Congress candidate, but he shifted his stance upon learning that Aryadan Shoukath would represent the party.
Despite the Congress-led UDF's attempts to negotiate with Anvar, he proceeded to file his nomination as an independent candidate and criticized Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan.
