New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) The Delhi Police successfully captured a proclaimed offender who had been avoiding trial in a case filed under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The individual, known as Sunil (32), was detained by a specialized team from the Anti-Jail Bail and Proclaimed Offender Cell in the Dwarka district.

As per police reports, Sunil was officially declared a proclaimed offender on August 27, 2024, linked to FIR No. 301/2020 registered at the BHD Nagar police station. This declaration was issued by the court of JMFC-07 at Dwarka Courts due to his repeated absences from trial.

The arrest is part of a targeted operation initiated by the Dwarka district police to locate and capture proclaimed offenders and other fugitives. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh, IPS, a dedicated task force was formed, led by Inspector Harish Kumar and overseen by the ACP (Operations).

The team, which included ASI Omprakash, Head Constables Kulwant Singh and Ajit, alongside Constables Ankur Tomar and Jaideep, utilized both technical surveillance and manual intelligence to track down the accused.

On March 23, while positioned in the Najafgarh area, the team received a tip-off regarding Sunil’s location. The informant disclosed that he was seen near the Khaira Mod Tempo Stand in Delhi. Acting promptly on this lead, the police team arrived at the scene and set up a trap.

Following the provided information, Sunil was apprehended at the Khaira Mod Tempo Stand and was subsequently arrested under Section 35.1(D) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Authorities noted that Sunil, a resident of East Krishna Vihar in Gopal Nagar, Phase-II, Delhi, has prior involvement in two criminal cases. His arrest is anticipated to aid in the effective functioning of the justice delivery system, as per officials.
