Protests Erupt in Ranchi Over Jharkhand CGL Exam Results Controversy

Ranchi, Dec 15 (NationPress) The situation regarding Jharkhand's Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination has intensified. Students advocating for the cancellation of the exam results are preparing to surround the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office in Ranchi on Monday.
Anticipating a significant turnout, thousands of students from various parts of the state are expected to participate in the protest. In preparation for these demonstrations, state police have implemented stringent security protocols at crucial locations including Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence, the Secretariat, and the JSSC office.
Numerous barricades have been established in the vicinity, accompanied by a considerable police presence around the JSSC premises.
The JSSC has summoned 2,231 shortlisted candidates to their office for certificate verification from December 16 to December 20.
In the meanwhile, Devendra Nath Mahato, leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JLKM), has declared intentions to disrupt the document verification process by any means necessary.
According to a press release from JLKM, students from all 24 districts have already converged in Ranchi and will commence their gherao of the JSSC office at 9 a.m. on Monday. Many students are reportedly spending the night in lodges, hostels, and with relatives in the city.
However, police have received orders to block protesters from accessing the JSSC office.
Reports indicate that vehicles transporting students from different districts have been halted on their way to Ranchi. The security deployment comprises 1,500 state police personnel, three companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), five Deputy Superintendents of Police, and eight inspectors.
The JSSC CGL examination, held on September 21–22 across 823 centers in the state, aimed to fill around 2,000 government positions. Over 3.04 lakh candidates participated in the examination.
The controversy emerged shortly after the exam, with claims of a paper leak and repeated questions from canceled examinations being reported. Protests have erupted in cities such as Ranchi and Hazaribagh.
On December 10, demonstrators in Hazaribagh obstructed a highway for nearly four hours until they were dispersed by police action.
A committee established by the JSSC to investigate the allegations concluded that no irregularities occurred during the examination. Nevertheless, two days ago, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced a CID investigation into the allegations, indicating ongoing scrutiny of the exam process.
