Jaipur, Jan 30 (NationPress) A significant protest unfolded in Neem Ka Thana, Rajasthan, on Thursday, advocating for the restoration of its district status.
Protesters obstructed the Kuchaman Didwana-Kotputli highway, leading to the closure of schools and businesses throughout the area.
Demonstrators set tyres ablaze and chanted slogans against the state government.
In reaction to the intensifying situation, more than 300 reserve police personnel have been dispatched.
Authorities have rerouted buses headed for Jaipur and Delhi, redirecting traffic from impacted regions to alleviate congestion.
The protesters have initiated an indefinite movement demanding the revival of Neem Ka Thana as a district.
At 8 a.m., demonstrators obstructed significant state highways, including State Highway 13 at Bhudoli Bypass (towards Jaipur), 37B at Mawanda (towards Jhunjhunu), and Jir ki Chowki (towards Kotputli).
Protesters congregated outside court areas, halting commercial activities in Mawanda, Patan, Chala, Guhala, and Neem Ka Thana.
The mining sector has also been entirely closed.
The administration has assigned senior officials as duty magistrates, including SDM Brijesh Gupta at the Sirohi bypass, SDM Rajveer Yadav from Bhudoli bypass, and others to uphold law and order.

The atmosphere remains tense, with officials closely monitoring the developments to maintain law and order. It is noteworthy that the Rajasthan government dissolved nine districts and three divisions established in 2023 under the Gehlot administration.
Currently, the state comprises 41 districts and seven divisions. The annulled divisions include Pali, Sikar, and Banswara, with the dissolved districts being Dudu, Kekri, Shahpura, Neem Ka Thana, Gangapur City, Jaipur Rural, Jodhpur Rural, Anupgarh, and Sanchore.
