Key Takeaways
Amaravati, March 17 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and president of YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has highlighted a significant surge in public discontent towards the coalition government.
While addressing YSRCP leaders and supporters from Ongole, he announced plans to initiate a padyatra aimed at addressing the concerns of the populace.
Jagan asserted that the coalition government has failed to benefit any segment of society. He noted that conversations in households frequently revolve around his achievements compared to those of Chandrababu Naidu.
Driven by a genuine desire to assist the public, Jagan stated he has introduced a multitude of welfare and development initiatives.
He accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of being motivated by a thirst for power rooted in corruption.
In the past two years, Jagan claimed, Chandrababu has accumulated debt of Rs 3.30 lakh crore without delivering on his election promises. He pointed out that all YSRCP programs have been terminated, while the government's projects have stalled. He questioned the whereabouts of the funds, alleging widespread corruption.
With only three years remaining for the coalition government, Y.S. Jagan expressed his intention to commence the padyatra within the next 1.5 years.
He plans to dedicate this time to connecting with the people through his padyatra and encouraged party members to unite, expressing confidence that the YSRCP would regain power.
Jagan emphasized that the YSRCP upholds integrity and credibility, asserting that the party was built on the foundation of its members and that its strength is rooted in its value-driven philosophy. He contrasted the governance of YSRCP with that of the coalition government.
He noted that in 2019, the YSRCP inherited a state burdened with financial troubles, having only Rs 100 crore available.
“In spite of the COVID pandemic, we took corrective actions to restore the state's stability. While we faced significant challenges and obligations, we continued our welfare projects and executed our manifesto faithfully, which astonished many,” he mentioned.
The former Chief Minister stated that of the Rs 3.31 lakh crore in loans acquired by the YSRCP government, Rs 2.7 lakh crore was allocated for welfare purposes.
He expressed concerns over declining state revenues and the undervaluation of land. He also criticized the Amaravati project, citing it as riddled with corruption.
Jagan pointed out that the TDP is the only political party whose MP has been implicated in a drug scandal, referencing the recent detainment of TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar during a police operation at a farmhouse near Hyderabad.
Addressing women's safety, Jagan claimed that the state lacks adequate protection for women, accusing Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to downplay issues of violence against women by forming committees and prolonging resolutions.
