Chandigarh, Sep 2 (NationPress) The President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sukhbir Badal, declared on Tuesday that the flood relief center set up by the party in Jalandhar is now operational and will act as the main hub for the distribution of relief items to areas affected by floods in Punjab.
As per details shared, the flood relief center is located at Harinder Farms. Those in need of relief supplies are encouraged to reach out to the center staff at the following contact numbers: 81958-22222 and 95012-87100.
Badal also called upon the Akali supporters and the residents of Punjab to generously contribute relief materials for the center. Individuals wishing to donate can also contact the relief center for more information. He highlighted that the Muktsar district unit, led by Kanwarjit Singh Barkandi, has contributed Rs 11 lakh to support flood relief operations.
Furthermore, the Ludhiana unit, spearheaded by Parupkar Singh Ghuman, has donated three trolleys of medical supplies to the center. Badal expressed gratitude towards the Shiromani committee for their timely support in setting up medical camps in flood-stricken areas, which will be staffed by the Guru Ramdas Medical University from Amritsar.
In response to a video appeal from residents of the Balachaur constituency, who reported a lack of assistance from the state administration, Badal dispatched 1,000 litres of diesel along with tractors and earth-moving equipment to aid in reinforcing the bund at Auliapur and Dhangar villages along the Sutlej river.
SAD Nawanshahr district president Sukhdeep Singh Sukar delivered the supplies to the bund site.
In parallel relief initiatives, ration trucks have successfully reached Fazilka and Dera Baba Nanak. Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has provided 2,000 litres of diesel to fortify vulnerable points along the Ghaggar in Mansa, in addition to two ration trucks. Patiala district rural president Jagmeet Singh Hariau has also contributed 500 litres of diesel to strengthen the bund at Arnetu on the Ghaggar river.
Moreover, a total of 40 trolleys donated by the people of Gurdaspur, led by Gurbanchan Singh Babehali, along with 100 trolleys of supplies contributed by Kamaljit Chawal and Naresh Mahajan from Deenanagar, have been distributed to the affected areas. Additionally, one truck carrying rations from Mohali has been sent to Fazilka.
