Chandigarh, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Punjab BJP on Thursday criticized the Shiromani Akali Dal and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal regarding her remarks about the controversy linked to the observance of “Veer Bal Diwas”.
BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal referenced a previous tweet by Kaur, highlighting that she herself had supported the commemoration of the Sahibzadas' martyrdom under the name “Bal Diwas” in 2019.
He questioned why a term deemed entirely suitable by the Akali Dal until 2019 has suddenly become contentious following the dissolution of the BJP-SAD coalition.
Baliawal also noted that in 2018, during an event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi organized by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Sukhbir Badal, the Akali Dal President, had expressed agreement with the title “Bal Diwas”.
He remarked that the current opposition from the Akali Dal reflects a clear contradiction with their previous position. He stated that during their alliance with the BJP, sensitive matters related to religion, agriculture, and Punjab were addressed through mutual consultation, but the Akali Dal leadership has repeatedly broken this trust.
