Chandigarh, April 20 (NationPress) In a significant celebration of the golden jubilee of Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital (SDACH), Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria, laid the foundation stone for a modern 250-bed Ayurvedic Super Specialty Hospital on Sunday.
This new facility has been allocated a grant of Rs 10 crore by the Ministry of AYUSH, intended to serve as a centre of excellence in ayurvedic treatment and care for chronic spine disorders.
During the stone-laying ceremony, multiple public healthcare initiatives were unveiled, such as a neonatal intensive care unit aimed at improving neonatal health services, a free delivery programme (both normal and caesarean) to promote accessible and safe childbirth, a free anti-rabies vaccination initiative for timely immunisation, and a geriatric care programme focused on delivering comprehensive and compassionate care.
In his remarks, the Governor stated, "The newly launched initiatives at the hospital underscore a profound commitment to public health by offering thorough care for all, from newborns to senior citizens."
He added, "This institution, by seamlessly blending ancient ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary medical practices, represents a notable advancement in positioning Chandigarh as a leading centre for ayurvedic excellence."
The Governor highlighted the significance of international collaborations, asserting that such partnerships are vital for elevating ayurveda to a global platform.
"By engaging with foreign institutions, researchers, and practitioners, ayurveda can achieve broader recognition, enhance its credibility, and integrate more smoothly with modern healthcare systems internationally."
Notable attendees included Koustubh Upadhyaya, Advisor (Ayurveda), Ministry of AYUSH, alongside the management of Shri Dhanwantry Educational Society, comprising President K.K. Gupta and General Secretary Naresh Mittal.
Following this, a convocation ceremony took place, during which 135 students were awarded their degrees.
