Chandigarh, May 1 (NationPress) In a significant intelligence-driven operation, the Punjab Police’s Counter-Intelligence unit in Amritsar dismantled a global narcotics trafficking organization operated by the foreign national Jassa and his accomplices, who are connected to smugglers in Pakistan, as stated by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.
During this operation, the police confiscated five kg of heroin. Initial investigations indicated that Jassa and his foreign associates had formed links with an Indian collaborator, Jodhbir Singh, also known as Jodha, who resides in Amritsar.
Under the directives of his foreign handlers, Jodhbir Singh was actively involved in retrieving heroin shipments and distributing them to various regions throughout India.
Intelligence reports suggest that Jodhbir Singh also collected drug profits and transferred them to Pakistan via hawala channels, as noted by the DGP.
A targeted raid led to the recovery of five kg of heroin, a currency counting machine, and additional items.
An FIR has been filed in Amritsar, and efforts are underway to apprehend him and dismantle his network.
On the previous day, the Amritsar Commissionerate successfully thwarted a potential grenade attack on police facilities by arresting five members of a Pakistan ISI-supported Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module, linked to the foreign-based gangster Jiwan Fauji.
The arrested individuals are identified as Naresh Kumar alias Babbu, Abhinav Bhagat alias Abhi, Ajay Kumar alias Ajju, Sunny Kumar, all hailing from Haripura in Amritsar, along with a 17-year-old juvenile.
Police teams have also seized a hand grenade and a locally-made .32 pistol along with five cartridges.
DGP Yadav mentioned that gangster Jiwan Fauji, currently operating from abroad, has been orchestrating a terror module in the border districts of the state, aided by the arrested individuals who were recruited and radicalized to carry out illicit activities.
The investigation has also revealed that the detained individuals were provided motorcycles and assigned to retrieve weapon shipments from the Ajnala sector, according to the DGP.
He further stated that the arrested suspects were actively planning to target police facilities using grenades.
