New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) - On Thursday, Arvind Shrivastava officially assumed the role of Secretary in the Department of Revenue within the Finance Ministry.

Last month, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet confirmed Shrivastava's appointment as the Secretary of the Department of Revenue.

A graduate of the 1994-batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the Karnataka cadre, Shrivastava previously held positions as Joint Secretary and later as Additional Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

His career also includes serving as Joint Secretary in the Budget Division of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance; Development Officer at the Asian Development Bank; Secretary of the Finance Department in Bengaluru; Secretary of the Urban Development Department in Bengaluru; and Managing Director at the Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation in Karnataka.

On April 18, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet sanctioned the promotions of senior IAS officers to fill important Secretary-level roles that have recently become vacant or are soon to be due to retirements, alongside a broader reshuffle involving approximately 20 senior positions across various ministries at the national level.

Previously serving as Additional Secretary at the PMO, IAS officer Shrivastava has now stepped into the role of the new Revenue Secretary.

Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam has been appointed as Secretary of the Department of Expenditure within the Ministry of Finance, succeeding Manoj Govil, who has transitioned to the role of Secretary (Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Govil takes over from Vandana Gurnani, who has been reassigned from the Cabinet Secretariat to become the new Union Secretary for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, replacing Sumita Dawra, who retired on March 31.
