New Delhi/Victoria (Seychelles), Oct 26 (NationPress) The Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, was present at the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Patrick Herminie, who has officially taken office as the President of Seychelles at Unity Stadium in Victoria.

During this significant occasion, the Indian Vice President extended warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the government and the citizens of India, emphasizing New Delhi’s dedication to maintaining its enduring partnership with the Indian Ocean nation.

In a post on X, C.P. Radhakrishnan expressed his joy on Sunday, stating: “I am thrilled to attend the swearing-in ceremony of H. E. Dr. Patrick Herminie as President of the Republic of Seychelles at Unity Stadium, Victoria, Seychelles, conveying my greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Government and people of India.”

On the same day, the Indian Vice President also engaged in discussions with Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Seychelles, exploring avenues to enhance bilateral relations.

According to a statement released on X, the Vice President's Office noted, “Hon’ble Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan met H. E. Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, in Seychelles. The leaders reflected on the strong and enduring bonds rooted in shared history and culture and discussed ways to further strengthen India-Mauritius bilateral relations.”

C.P. Radhakrishnan also addressed the Indian community in Seychelles, underlining the “long-standing and multi-faceted ties” that exist between the two nations. He praised the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora in further enhancing bilateral connections.

During his address, he emphasized the long-standing, multi-faceted ties between India and Seychelles, commending the Indian diaspora’s role in further strengthening bilateral relations,” stated the Vice President's Office on X.

It is worth noting that C. P. Radhakrishnan is on a two-day visit to Seychelles specifically to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Patrick Herminie.

Throughout this visit, the Vice President aims to convey India’s warm wishes to Herminie and reaffirm the close, longstanding, and well-established ties between the two nations, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
