New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Seychelles President Patrick Herminie landed in New Delhi on Sunday after wrapping up his engagements in Chennai and Mumbai.

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: "President Dr. Patrick Herminie of Seychelles has arrived in New Delhi following fruitful discussions in Chennai and Mumbai, where he engaged with key stakeholders in governance, industry, coastal management, and the health sector."
"He received a ceremonial welcome from Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel. Seychelles serves as a crucial maritime neighbor to India and is an important ally in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its dedication to the Global South," he added.
Herminie arrived in India on Thursday for a five-day state visit upon the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this visit to Delhi, he plans to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and engage in discussions with PM Modi regarding bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest, as per the MEA's statement.
In Mumbai, he met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, where they deliberated on various topics, particularly focusing on port-led development, coastal management, and potential collaborative opportunities between Maharashtra and Seychelles.
CM Fadnavis expressed, "Maharashtra extends a warm welcome to Seychelles! I am delighted to host President Hon’ble Dr. Patrick Herminie and the Ministers at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. I sent my best wishes to him and the people of Seychelles for their 50th independence anniversary and for 50 years of diplomatic relations with India this year!" on X.
He further stated, "Our discussions were fruitful, especially regarding port-led development, coastal management, and promising opportunities for enhanced collaboration. I also welcomed the Honorable Ministers: Mr. Barry Faure- Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Pierre Laporte - Finance Minister, Ms. Veronique Laporte- Transport Minister, and Mrs. Amanda Bernstein- Minister for Tourism and Culture."
On February 6, Herminie participated in the India-Seychelles Business Forum organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Chennai. In his address, he emphasized priority sectors for collaboration such as digital technologies, renewable energy, tourism, higher education, and electric mobility, as noted in FICCI's statement on X.
FICCI shared in a post on X, "As part of the Forum, a dedicated CEOs’ Roundtable was held, enabling leading Indian industry members to interact directly with the Hon’ble President and the accompanying ministerial delegation from Seychelles."
