According to a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal remarked, "By paying respects to Bapu, President Dr. Patrick Herminie of Seychelles celebrates Gandhiji's everlasting legacy and universal principles, which continue to inspire the India-Seychelles partnership."
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met with President Herminie on Monday, praising his commitment to promoting Vision MAHASAGAR, aimed at enhancing economic prosperity and security in the region.
Following their meeting, EAM Jaishankar shared on X, "Thrilled to meet President Dr. Patrick Herminie of Seychelles today in Delhi. As maritime neighbors, we appreciate his backing for advancing Vision MAHASAGAR for economic growth and regional security. I am confident his discussions with PM Narendra Modi today will pave the way for increased cooperation between our nations."
Patrick Herminie arrived in New Delhi on Sunday after concluding engagements in Chennai and Mumbai. He was given a warm ceremonial welcome at the airport.
In a statement on X, Jaiswal noted, "President Dr. Patrick Herminie of Seychelles arrived in New Delhi following fruitful discussions in Chennai and Mumbai, where he engaged with key stakeholders in governance, industry, coastal management, and healthcare sectors."
He received a ceremonial welcome from Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel at the airport. Seychelles plays a crucial role as a maritime neighbor of India and is a significant ally in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its commitment to the Global South," he added.
Herminie began his five-day State visit to India on Thursday at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While in Mumbai, he met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, where they discussed several issues, particularly focusing on port-led development, coastal management, and promising avenues for collaboration between Maharashtra and Seychelles.
CM Fadnavis tweeted, "Maharashtra welcomes Seychelles! I am extremely pleased to host President Hon’ble Dr. Patrick Herminie and his ministers at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. I extended my warm congratulations for the 50th independence anniversary and diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles this year!"

On February 6, Herminie participated in the India-Seychelles Business Forum hosted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Chennai. In his address, he emphasized priority sectors for collaboration, including digital technologies, renewable energy, tourism, higher education, and electric mobility, as stated in a release by FICCI on X.
FICCI also announced on X, "As part of the Forum, a dedicated CEOs’ Roundtable was held, allowing leading Indian industry members to engage directly with the Hon’ble President and the accompanying ministerial delegation from Seychelles."
