The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-affiliated Rajya Sabha member did not disclose the specific agenda of the meeting, but characterised it as substantive and personally significant.

The meeting follows a breakfast gathering on Friday, 7 August, at which PM Modi hosted 45 Parliamentarians — a majority of whom had recently switched political affiliations to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The outreach is widely seen as part of the Centre's effort to consolidate its parliamentary bloc amid a turbulent Monsoon Session marked by repeated Opposition disruptions.

During that breakfast, Modi is understood to have expressed concern over Opposition protests that have curtailed floor participation for several MPs. He also reportedly sought to reassure lawmakers who had recently defected from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Shiv Sena (UBT), telling them the NDA stood with them as a unit.

'The NDA is a family. We are with the constituent parties. I am with every MP, and not just one constituent party of the NDA. I stand with every MP of the NDA. You don't need to worry about anyone,' Modi reportedly said at the breakfast, according to reports citing the interaction.

Notably, among those who attended the Friday breakfast were 20 rebel TMC MPs who merged into the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, seven former Uddhav Sena MPs (six of whom officially joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena), 20 National People's Party (NPP) MPs, and two MPs from the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar.

Parliament's Monsoon Session Under Strain

The meetings come against the backdrop of a stormy Monsoon Session of Parliament, repeatedly disrupted by Opposition protests. The disruptions have, according to reports, limited the ability of several newly affiliated MPs to speak and participate meaningfully in legislative proceedings — a concern Modi reportedly raised directly at the Friday gathering.

As the NDA works to integrate its expanded parliamentary numbers, Modi's personal outreach to newly joined MPs signals a deliberate effort to build cohesion and loyalty within a coalition that has grown significantly through political realignments.
