Is Congress MP Rahul Gandhi Visiting Punjab Tomorrow?

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (NationPress) Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aerial examination of the flood-affected regions in Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on a day-long visit to the state on Monday. He plans to engage with those impacted by the floods in Amritsar and Gurdaspur, which are among the hardest-hit districts.

Rahul Gandhi is anticipated to meet with affected families and evaluate the extent of the damage firsthand.

Previously, he expressed significant concern regarding the flood crisis in Punjab and its neighboring areas.

In a post shared on X, he conveyed his sorrow over the loss of lives due to the heavy rains and subsequent floods in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, offering his condolences to the bereaved families and hoping for the safe return of those who are missing.

He called for the government to implement high alerts in all affected regions and expedite rescue efforts to avert further casualties and ensure timely assistance. Additionally, he urged Congress leaders and party workers to actively participate in the relief initiatives in collaboration with the local administration.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s planned visit, Punjab BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal raised essential inquiries.

He pointed out that the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and their alliance partners govern eight states nationwide. He questioned what financial aid or relief items these governments have provided to Punjab during this crisis.

Baliawal called for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Congress President Raja Warring to publicly disclose this information, so that the citizens of Punjab can clearly see which parties genuinely supported them in their time of need.

He emphasized that while both the state government and the Congress persistently challenge Central assistance, they have not demonstrated the intent to extend help from the states where they hold power.

Notably, Baliawal remarked that during the critical period when Punjab was submerged and its residents were enduring significant hardships, Rahul Gandhi was in Malaysia.

Baliawal asserted that the timing of Rahul Gandhi’s visit appears to be more about political theater than genuine concern for the flood-affected communities.

He highlighted that the Central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already allocated Rs 1,600 crore in immediate relief to Punjab, in addition to the Rs 12,000 crore accessible to the state government via the State Disaster Response Fund.

He noted that BJP-led states such as Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, and Haryana have each contributed Rs 5 crore to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. In addition to financial aid, various BJP governments have sent thousands of trucks and train wagons filled with rations and essential supplies for flood victims.

Throughout this challenging period, BJP leaders and volunteers across Punjab have been actively engaged in relief and rehabilitation initiatives, he added. Baliawal challenged Rahul Gandhi to explain why Congress-ruled states have shown indifference and neglect towards the suffering of Punjab.

He stressed that the people of Punjab deserve transparency regarding who genuinely stood by them in their time of need.
