Patna, Nov 29 (NationPress) In response to the stringent instructions from Bihar’s newly appointed Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, law enforcement across the state has mobilized, leading to reports of widespread raids in various jails.
One of the most significant operations occurred early Saturday morning at the high-security Beur Central Jail in Patna, where notable figures such as Mokama MLA Anant Singh are incarcerated.
A large contingent of police officers, including the City SP (East), City SP (Central), and the Additional District Magistrate, initiated a thorough search around 5 a.m. All inmates were secured in their cells while authorities meticulously examined the facility. The raid was executed under substantial security with no public access allowed during the operation.
This intensified crackdown arises from concerns that several recent criminal activities, including murders, robberies, and dacoities in Patna and nearby regions, may be linked to criminal factions operating from within Beur Jail. The police have heightened surveillance and mandated surprise inspections throughout state prisons.
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding any confiscated items from the Beur raid. The City SP (East) mentioned that further details would be shared after the operation's completion. Similar raids have been reported in other districts, including the sub-jail in Barh.
Additionally, a significant breakthrough has surfaced in the investigations conducted by Patna Police. A comprehensive report indicates that former RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav, currently imprisoned in Bhagalpur Jail, continues to orchestrate a highly organized criminal syndicate in Danapur, amassing illegal wealth worth crores. This report has been submitted to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is poised to initiate a money-laundering investigation. A chargesheet has also been filed against Ritlal and his accomplices.
The police and the Special Investigation Team's inquiry into the Khagaul organized crime case uncovered extensive land-grabbing activities by Ritlal’s network. Documentation from the Circle Office reveals encroachments on three acres of government land in Kotwan Mouza, including the unauthorized construction of a boundary wall covering 4,000 sq ft, illegal structures dubbed “Ramashish Chowk,” and the enforced construction of 16 shops on 76 decimals of land in Mustafapur Mouza, subsequently rented out by his associates Sintu and Sunny (alias Rohit). The district administration cleared the encroached land on May 15, 2025.
Locals reportedly hesitated to lodge complaints due to fear. Ritlal, his brother Pinku, and various associates are already detained for allegedly extorting Rs 50 lakh from builder Kumar Gaurav and issuing death threats. Following confirmation of the gang’s involvement, a new FIR was filed at the Khagaul police station under the direction of police headquarters.
