Rajasthan CM Directs Collectors to Secure All Borewells Within Two Weeks

Jaipur, Dec 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, issued a directive on Thursday to all District Collectors, mandating that all borewells must be securely closed within a two-week period to avert any potential loss of life, as reported by officials.
During a review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the necessity for all departments to implement a mission-mode approach aimed at reducing road accidents. He instructed officials to swiftly identify and rectify locations prone to accidents, prioritizing the repair of hazardous black spots.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of taking decisive action against individuals responsible for accidents resulting from uncovered borewells.
"All borewells should be sealed within the next two weeks," he declared.
In the same meeting, which focused on road safety at the Chief Minister's residence, CM Sharma announced the initiation of special awareness campaigns starting in January.
These campaigns will aim to educate individuals in schools, colleges, and workplaces about road safety and the importance of following traffic regulations.
The Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive strategy based on the “6E Formula” for enhancing road safety and emergency response. This includes education, engineering, enforcement, emergency care, evaluation, and engagement.
He stressed the need for strict adherence to traffic rules and called for stringent measures against violators.
Initiatives will encompass the installation of modern CCTV systems for surveillance and speed monitoring, along with the implementation of automated challan systems for traffic offenders. The CM also insisted that vehicles operating without permits must be barred from the roads.
Moreover, he insisted on improving trauma care services, promoting the use of reflective tape on non-motorized vehicles, and strategically positioning ambulances based on iRAD data through district road safety committees.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to eliminate illegal road cuts, clear encroachments, uphold road furniture, and prevent the presence of stray animals on roadways. He emphasized the enforcement of vehicle fitness regulations and the need for strict action against overloading and overcrowding. An analysis of the root causes of accidents will also be carried out to avoid future occurrences.
Additionally, a special plan will be formulated for the swift enhancement of black spots, ensuring that quality assurance is prioritized.
Accountability will be established for delays in road construction, ensuring that both contractors and departments are held responsible, the Chief Minister noted.
He also declared that illegal parking on highways would be strictly banned, with appropriate parking arrangements implemented.
The Chief Minister underscored the government's commitment to establishing division-level road safety task forces and integrating emergency services through the Emergency Response Support System.
He proposed recognizing individuals and organizations that contribute to road safety during special events to encourage accident responders and good Samaritans.
In conclusion, CM Sharma reiterated the importance of regular monitoring of district-level road safety committees at the state level to guarantee the effective execution of safety measures.
