How is Rajasthan Revamping Dilapidated School Buildings Before Monsoon?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 6 (NationPress) In a significant move to ensure the safety of children attending government schools across the state, the Rajasthan Education Department has intensified its efforts to enhance school infrastructure.
Following the unfortunate collapse of a school building in Piplodi, Jhalawar, during last year's monsoon, the department promptly initiated a comprehensive assessment across the state to identify schools functioning in hazardous or deteriorating conditions.
Currently, repair work is underway on over 2,000 school buildings, all of which are slated to be fortified and operational by March.
Moreover, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has successfully completed waterproofing and repair initiatives in 21,000 schools, ensuring a secure learning environment for students during the forthcoming monsoon season.
As highlighted in the previous budget, 175 new school buildings are also in the process of being constructed, with completion expected within a year.
The Civil Branch of the Rajasthan School Education Council reports that construction is in progress for girls' toilets in all schools.
Additionally, over 2,250 science laboratories are being established in 900 schools, along with dining-cum-study halls in 229 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Hostels at District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) centres across seven districts, and repairs for more than 3,000 Anganwadi centres.
In response to the Piplodi incident, the department quickly demolished the unsafe structure and initiated the construction of a new school. At the request of local residents, a larger plot of land was designated for the new building.
Although this caused a slight delay, construction is now advancing swiftly, and the school is expected to commence operations from its new location shortly.
