Jaipur, Nov 25 (NationPress) Renowned young politician Naresh Meena, who recently stood as an independent candidate in the Anta Assembly by-election, is once again facing legal issues after an FIR was lodged against him at the Sapotra police station. This action stems from allegations that he made derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
The complaint was submitted by Vikas Singh, co-convener of the BJP district legal cell, accusing Meena of using inappropriate language against leaders in constitutional roles, undermining the dignity of their positions.
These remarks were allegedly made during a mahapanchayat on November 21 in Jodli Gram Panchayat, attended by thousands of farmers and villagers protesting the proposed Dungri Dam as part of the Ram Jal Setu Link Project (PKC-ERCP).
While addressing the assembly, Meena proclaimed a 'do-or-die' struggle to halt the dam's construction and hinted at drastic measures, such as halting trains if necessary. The situation escalated after a video of his speech circulated, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.
The mahapanchayat aimed to oppose the Dungri Dam and the Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal (PKC) Link Project, attracting numerous villagers and farmers concerned about losing their lands and homes due to the dam.
During the event, Meena declared that if negotiations with the Chief Minister failed by December 1, a significant protest would commence on December 10.
Several leaders addressed the crowd, and during his speech, Meena allegedly made disparaging remarks about the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, which led to the matter gaining traction after the video surfaced.
The complaint accuses Meena of damaging the public perception of constitutional leaders and violating the dignity of their offices.
Following the video evidence and the complaint, police confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Naresh Meena at the Sapotra police station, as stated by Karauli SP Lokesh Sonwal.
Previously, Meena sparked controversy by slapping an SDM during the 2023 Assembly elections, resulting in his incarceration.
He was recently released and contested the Anta by-elections as an independent candidate, where he lost to Congress's Pramod Jain Bhaya, with BJP's Morpal Suman finishing third.
