Jaipur, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tika Ram Jully has made a pointed criticism of the Rajasthan government, led by Bhajanlal Sharma, labeling its two-year governance as a “total failure”. He has openly invited the Chief Minister to engage in a public debate at a time and location of his preference.
During a press briefing in Jaipur, Jully challenged the government's assertion of having fulfilled 72 percent of its manifesto commitments, denouncing it as a “72 percent deception” against the citizens of Rajasthan.
He noted that the Chief Minister had only addressed the press for the first time in two years, indicating a lack of serious commitment to public accountability.
In response to recent comments made by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Jully stated, “Name the place, day, and time. I am prepared to debate wherever you wish.”
The LoP provided what he called detailed evidence supporting the government's failure to deliver on ten key promises outlined in the BJP manifesto.
Regarding the Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jully pointed out that the government pledged an annual amount of Rs 12,000 but is currently disbursing only Rs 9,000, which he termed a blatant breach of promise.
He criticized the Jal Jeevan Mission, asserting that with the deadline set for December 2025 approaching, approximately 34 lakh households are still lacking tap water connections.
On the Jal Jeevan Mission, he stated, “The commitment to supply water to every household by 2025 has failed. As the deadline nears in December 2025, 34 lakh households remain without water. Out of a target of 20 lakh connections for this year, only 1.66 lakh connections have been made in 8 months.”
About the school uniform scheme, he mentioned that despite a promise of Rs 1200, only Rs 600 is being allocated. Furthermore, he accused the government of discriminating against underprivileged children from General, OBC, and EWS categories.
In reference to government jobs, he remarked, “Despite a pledge to fill all vacancies within a year, 1.25 lakh positions remain unfilled in the education sector alone.”
He stated that the promise to establish IIT/AIIMS-like institutions in every division has only resulted in the renaming of pre-existing institutions. No new institutions have been established, he added.
He also expressed disappointment that the commitment to reduce VAT and align fuel prices with those of Gujarat and Haryana remains unachieved.
According to Jully, the people of Rajasthan are still burdened with high fuel costs.
Additionally, he accused the government of failing to uphold promises related to the procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), including moong, urad, and ground crops.
