Jaipur, June 28 (NationPress) Another wave of grief has hit the family of Kedarnath helicopter crash victim Rajveer Singh Chauhan, as his mother, Vijay Laxmi Chauhan (58), succumbed to a heart attack on Saturday, merely a day after marking the 12th-day ritual of her son’s demise.
On June 15, pilot Rajveer Singh Chauhan, a former Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, tragically lost his life alongside six others in a helicopter crash near Kedarnath. After retiring from military service, he transitioned to a private aviation firm and began flying commercial helicopters. Just four months prior, he celebrated the arrival of twin sons.
On Saturday, as family members and neighbors convened outside the Shastri Nagar Rana Colony residence to organize a tribute for Rajveer, Vijay Laxmi Chauhan suddenly experienced acute chest pain. She was immediately taken to Kanwatia Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival. This shocking news has left the local community reeling.
Just a day earlier, she had been engaged in discussions with relatives about a special tribute planned for Sunday to honor her late son.
The planned event included naming a square and road near Nandi Baba Temple after Colonel Rajveer Singh Chauhan, along with a 'Veer Tiranga Yatra', a collective tribute meeting, and a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa for the peace of his soul.
Rajveer’s wife, Sona Kanwar, was actively coordinating with family and community members for the memorial when the second blow struck the family.
Rajveer Singh, a resident of Shastri Nagar Colony in Jaipur, served in the Army for approximately 14 years. His wife, Deepika Chauhan, is also a Lieutenant Colonel.
The couple welcomed their first children just four months ago after 14 years of marriage. Rajveer's father, Govind Singh, a retired employee of BSNL, expressed that the family was preparing for the Jalwa Poojan of the grandsons, but this tragic news has cast a shadow over their celebrations.
