Jaipur, Oct 29 (NationPress) The Rajasthan High Court, located in Jodhpur, has decided to extend six months’ bail to the self-proclaimed godman Asaram, who is currently serving a life sentence for the rape of a minor.
A division bench, which included Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Sangita Sharma, considered Asaram’s request for suspension of his sentence based on medical grounds.
The plea was submitted earlier this month, pointing to his deteriorating health. Senior attorney Devdutt Kamat, representing Asaram from Delhi, argued his case, while Additional Advocate General Deepak Chaudhary represented the Rajasthan government. Advocate P.C. Solanki stood for the victim. After reviewing the arguments from all parties, the bench approved his bail.
