Madrid, Oct 31 (NationPress) The third round of Copa del Rey's initial matches didn't see any major surprises, yet Espanyol and Levante faced some tense moments against lower league teams.

Kike Garcia netted both goals in Espanyol's 2-1 victory over Atletic Lleida, a club in the fourth tier of Spanish football. Kike kicked off the scoring with a penalty just two minutes in, but Lleida quickly equalized thanks to Aldo One. Kike then regained the lead for Espanyol right before halftime, although they had to endure some anxious moments in the closing stages.

Levante required a last-minute goal to avoid extra time against fourth-tier Orihuela in a thrilling match that ended with seven goals, as reported by Xinhua. Unai Elgezabal and Jose Luis Morales initially put Levante ahead 2-0 within just 11 minutes, but Javier Solsona's penalty brought Orihuela back into contention.

Carlos Espi restored Levante's two-goal cushion in the 48th minute, but just three minutes later, Gonzalo Mirande pulled one back. Hector Ayodele sent the home crowd into a frenzy by leveling the match at 3-3 in the dying moments, but Espi struck again in the 92nd minute to secure Levante's advancement.

Celta Vigo comfortably progressed to the second round with a 2-0 triumph over lowly Puerto de Vega. Although Puerto managed to keep it level until halftime, goals from Oscar Marcos and a penalty by Damien Rodriguez in the second half secured an uninspiring yet straightforward win.

Deportivo Alaves swiftly took charge against sixth-tier CD Getxo, with Mariano Diaz and Carlos Vicente putting the top-flight team 4-0 up by halftime. Mariano completed his hat-trick in the second half, with Toni Martinez and Morcillo finishing off a resounding 7-0 victory.

Real Betis also had a simple outing, winning 7-1 away against Palma del Rio.

The second round of the Copa is scheduled to take place between December 2 and 4.
