Rajasthan High Court Halts Bailable Warrant Issued to Salman Khan
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 7 (NationPress) Renowned actor Salman Khan has gained a significant reprieve from the Rajasthan High Court, which has put a hold on the bailable warrant that was previously issued against him by the Jaipur District Consumer Commission-II.
The ruling was made by a bench led by Justice Anoop Singhi during the proceedings of petitions submitted by Khan and others involved.
Thanks to the High Court's intervention, Khan is now exempt from appearing before the Commission on the previously set date of April 13, which had been designated as a final chance; failure to comply would have resulted in arrest warrants.
The Consumer Commission had issued bailable warrants for Salman Khan on four separate occasions, none of which were successfully executed.
In a recent session, the Commission voiced its significant dissatisfaction and threatened to take more stringent actions if compliance was not achieved.
This case originated from a complaint lodged by Yogendra Singh Badiyal, who accused the advertisements associated with Rajshree Pan Masala and its brand ambassador, Salman Khan, of being misleading.
The products in question were advertised as "saffron-infused cardamom" and "saffron-infused pan masala."
On January 6, 2026, the Commission enacted a temporary ban on the promotion and advertisement of these items.
Nevertheless, reports indicate that advertisements persisted on January 9, including billboards throughout Jaipur, Kota, and other areas, which the Commission regarded as a breach of its directive.
The Commission remarked that celebrity status does not exempt individuals from legal accountability and emphasized that repeated failures to appear despite outstanding warrants diminish public trust in the justice system.
It even instructed the Director General of Police to assemble a task force to enforce the warrant in Mumbai, but this effort proved unsuccessful.
Senior lawyers R.P. Singh and G.S. Bafna, along with attorneys Divesh Sharma, Varun Singh, and Shivangshu Naval, represented both Rajshree Pan Masala and Salman Khan.
