Jaipur, July 14 (NationPress) In a startling turn of events, a well-known social media influencer hailing from Barmer has been apprehended for involvement in drug trafficking.
The individual in question is Bhanwari Devi, aged 32, who is popularly known as ‘Bhavika’ among her impressive following of over 86,000 on Instagram.
She was intercepted while transporting a shipment of MDMA drugs on a state transport bus bound for Gujarat. Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Sanchore (Jalore) police stopped the bus at Chitalwana and took Bhanwari into custody.
From her bag, authorities seized two packets containing a total of 152 grams of MDMA. Sources indicate that she was headed to deliver the drugs to Unjha and Mehsana in Gujarat, charging approximately Rs 10,000 for each delivery.
Confirming her arrest, SHO Baldevram from Chitalwana Police Station noted that Bhanwari is a resident of Vankalpura village within the jurisdiction of Barmer’s Sadar police station.
The drug shipment was reportedly handed to her by a known dealer based in Barmer, Chanani Devi. Bhanwari boarded the bus from the Barmer Bus Stand around noon on Sunday, having traveled from Jaisalmer.
Meanwhile, Barmer police had received prior intelligence regarding the drug movement and notified the Ramji Ki Gol Chowki post. However, by the time officers arrived, the bus had already left.
This alert was communicated to Chitalwana police, who successfully managed to intercept the vehicle. Upon her arrest, Bhanwari attempted to contact friends and relatives multiple times, but none responded to her pleas.
This incident has sent ripples of concern throughout Rajasthan, where Bhanwari had established a significant presence as a social media influencer.
