Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 21 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Rajasthan Police's Crime Branch CID apprehended a notorious fugitive, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000, after being at large for almost four years. Acting under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police (Crime) Bipin Kumar Pandey, a specialized team executed a high-stakes interstate operation, resulting in the capture of Mahesh Dilip Dahle (also known as ‘Chachaji’ or ‘Sardarji’) in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.
The suspect is implicated in numerous serious offenses, including firing upon a police unit, attempted murder, and breaches of the Arms Act. A dedicated team, supervised by Inspector General of Police (Crime) Harendra Kumar Mahawar, and led by Sub-Inspector Shailendra Kumar, was initially deployed in the Jodhpur and Phalodi areas to collect intelligence.
During the operation, Head Constable Ravindra Singh received reliable information suggesting that Dahle, a “Most Wanted” criminal from the Phalodi police jurisdiction, had been evading capture by disguising his identity while traveling through cities in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Following thorough technical verification of the leads, the team launched a unified operation across both states. By maintaining constant surveillance and conducting comprehensive reconnaissance, the police monitored the suspect's movements and strategically set a trap. Collaborating with IG (Jodhpur Range) Satyendra Singh, a contingent from the Phalodi District Police joined the mission.
Upon arriving at Tapovan Road in Ahilyanagar, the team spotted an individual fitting the informant's description. Realizing the police presence, the accused attempted to flee. However, demonstrating rapid response and bravery, the police officers pursued him on foot and successfully apprehended him.
Initially, Dahle tried to mislead law enforcement, but during rigorous questioning, he admitted to his identity as a resident of Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh.
The case traces back to April 2022, when the Phalodi police received intelligence regarding illegal arms being transported in an unmarked pickup truck. Acting on this tip-off, police established a blockade, to which the accused and his accomplices responded by indiscriminately firing at the police team and attempting to ram their vehicle into a patrol car with lethal intent.
During the confrontation, law enforcement succeeded in arresting two suspects on the scene and confiscated three pistols along with 14 cartridges. However, Dahle managed to elude capture and had been evading authorities ever since. This operation was executed under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Shailendra Sharma, with vital contributions from Head Constables Ravindra Singh and Kuldeep Singh, as well as Constable Naresh Kumar.
Assistance was also provided by Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Dayal Sharma and Constable Brajesh Kumar Sharma, who facilitated technical support. Members of the Phalodi Police team, including ASI Peeraram and DST members -- Head Constable Gordhanram, Constable Mahendra Kumar, and Constable Bhagwanaram -- played crucial roles in this successful apprehension. Dahle has been transferred to the Phalodi Police for further legal action.
