The sarpanches expressed their surprise and gratitude for being invited to Delhi and recognized during this significant event. They extended their thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Border Security Force (BSF).
In an innovative move, the BSF included young public representatives from border areas as special guests during the Independence Day celebrations. This initiative aims to acknowledge these public representatives for their commitment to serving the nation.
BSF IG Madanlal Garg highlighted the government’s vibrant village scheme, which focuses on strengthening villages and providing employment opportunities locally, discouraging migration.
Reports indicate that over 220 schemes led by the Modi government are being fully implemented within the Vibrant Villages initiative.
The Vibrant Village Program is pivotal in tackling the migration issue from border communities.
Special invitations were extended to Sarpanch Bhartharam from Navatla Bakhasar village, Sarpanch Sanjana from Kanwarpura in Sri Ganganagar, Sarpanch of 22 KYD from Bikaner, and Sarpanch Geet Kanwar from Myajlar in Jaisalmer.
BSF IG Madanlal Garg stated that during Operation Sindoor, the responsibility to safeguard residents in border areas was paramount. The local populations played a crucial role during this operation.
He added that the village inhabitants “supported us during Operation Sindoor... there was no need for evacuation.” One sarpanch from each of the four border districts was selected to attend the event in Delhi.
These sarpanches were invited as part of the Centre's Vibrant Village Scheme, which aims to enhance the development of villages in border territories.
The initiative seeks to create new employment opportunities through skill development, ensuring that villagers do not need to migrate to urban areas for work.
Sarpanch Sanjana of 22 KYD in Bikaner stated: “We were honored on Independence Day. Meeting PM Modi was a remarkable experience, as it was my first time flying in an airplane.”
Sarpanch Bhartharam from Navatla Bakhasar village commented to IANS about the incredible experience.
“During Operation Sindoor, we supported the BSF, which is why we were called to Delhi on Independence Day. This is a significant honor for all of us. We never anticipated an opportunity to travel.”
