Jaipur, July 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal Sharma, emphasized that Rajasthan is advancing swiftly in the mining sector thanks to transparent operations, improved ease of doing business, and robust infrastructure development. He advocated for the establishment of a mining model that harmonizes economic growth with environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
“We must ensure that our mining practices meet current demands while also paving the way for future generations,” he stated. “Our ambition is to position Rajasthan as a premier mining hub,” he encouraged entrepreneurs to consider investing in the state.
“With a rich variety of minerals, from iron to gold, the state government is wholly dedicated to providing comprehensive support,” he added.
During the felicitation ceremony for 7-star and 5-star rated mines, attended by Chief Minister Sharma and Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, held at the Rajasthan International Centre, the Chief Minister noted that the star rating system evaluates mining operations while also promoting environmental and social accountability.
“This system assesses mining leases based on crucial factors such as sustainable mining practices, eco-friendly development, water management, afforestation, and social responsibility,” he explained.
He congratulated the representatives of award-winning mines and announced the implementation of a similar rating and evaluation framework in Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister remarked that Rajasthan serves as a “museum of minerals,” currently extracting 57 types of metallic and non-metallic minerals.
The state contributes 12% to India’s total mineral production value.
Sharma also mentioned the record success in auctioning mining leases for major minerals.
“Out of 500 blocks allocated nationwide, Rajasthan has auctioned over 100, accounting for more than 20% of the total,” he noted.
Furthermore, 960 minor mineral plots and 137 quarry plots have been successfully auctioned.
CM Sharma pointed out that under the previous administration, the mining royalty revenue for 2023-24 was Rs 7,460 crore, reflecting just a 3% increase.
“Thanks to our proactive initiatives, this figure surged to Rs 9,228 crore in 2024-25, marking a remarkable 24% increase,” he said.
He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal mining, having launched three special campaigns to combat unlawful activities in the sector.
The Chief Minister introduced a new policy to promote M-Sand as an eco-friendly alternative to gravel, incentivizing entrepreneurs who establish M-Sand units.
He also highlighted the ambitious 'Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan', inspired by the Prime Minister’s 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.
“Our target is to plant 50 crore saplings during our tenure. Last year alone, we planted over 7.5 crore saplings, with 10 crore more set to be planted this monsoon,” he stated.
Chief Minister Sharma emphasized that since 2014, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the nation has witnessed transformative development. “Pro-poor welfare schemes have empowered the most marginalized. We have decisively addressed terrorism and Naxalism,” he asserted.
He described the Centre-State “double engine government” as a powerful force driving progress in every sector. “Rajasthan, being the largest state in the country, is now emerging as a land of vast opportunities. Investment prospects abound in education, industry, tourism, and more,” he claimed.
