New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) President OP Rajbhar on Tuesday reiterated his strong support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill, urging its swift implementation to streamline the country’s electoral process.

Speaking to IANS, OP Rajbhar stated: “Since independence, elections were originally conducted simultaneously across the nation. However, this practice has changed over time due to evolving circumstances. Currently, there is an urgent requirement for ‘One Nation, One Election’, and we are fully backing this initiative. We desire its prompt execution.”

His comments coincide with Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) Chairman PP Chaudhary announcing that the committee’s nationwide dialogues regarding the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal will commence on May 17, beginning in Maharashtra. These discussions will also take place in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, and Punjab.

Rajbhar further addressed the worsening law and order situation in West Bengal concerning the Waqf (Amendment) Act, especially regarding alleged violence against Hindus.

“It is the Chief Minister's duty to uphold law and order in her state. Being a woman herself, if she cannot manage the situation, she should solicit assistance from the Centre. If Banerjee fails to act, then there is a strong case for invoking President’s Rule. When law and order deteriorates to this extent, Constitutional measures become imperative,” he remarked.

The minister also responded to recent claims made by Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, who alleged that Uttar Pradesh under BJP governance has become the top state for crimes against Dalits.

Dismissing these accusations, Rajbhar stated: “Akhilesh Yadav is disseminating misinformation. During their governance, the state was infamous for lawlessness. From police to lekhpal to gram sevak recruitment, every sector was tainted with bias. He speaks of justice, yet his 18 percent Muslim vote bank gained nothing.”

On Monday, Yadav released a statement accusing BJP-ruled states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Maharashtra, of having the highest incidents of crimes against Dalits, particularly women.

“The BJP administration is not only attacking reservation and personal freedoms but is also safeguarding powerful individuals who are now taking lives,” the SP leader expressed.

Referencing a recent incident, Yadav added, “The murder of a Dalit youth in Prayagraj for refusing to harvest wheat is shocking and highlights the persistent caste oppression.”

He further claimed that the BJP embodies a party driven by authoritarian values and feudal ideologies, where humiliation and violence against Dalits, backward classes, minorities, women, and tribals are ingrained in its system.
