New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Friday that ‘Vande Mataram’ transcends mere words; it embodies the “voice of India’s soul”, as the nation celebrates the 150th anniversary of this iconic song. In a message shared on X, HM Shah emphasized the song's pivotal role in uniting the country during the struggle for independence and its ongoing ability to evoke pride and patriotism among the youth today.
“Vande Mataram is not just a string of words; it is the voice of India’s soul. In the face of colonial rule, ‘Vande Mataram’ rallied the nation and fortified the spirit of freedom. It also inspired revolutionaries with an unwavering commitment, pride, and a willingness to sacrifice for the motherland,”
HM Shah expressed in Hindi (translated). He further noted that the song continues to “spark the eternal flame of nationalism in the hearts of our citizens,” serving as a source of unity and revitalization.
“Vande Mataram continues to fuel the eternal flame of nationalism in the hearts of the countrymen and remains a source of unity, patriotism, and renewed energy among the youth even today. Our cherished national song ‘Vande Mataram’ is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year,”
he stated.
HM Shah urged citizens to honor this occasion by singing the complete version of the song with their families. “Let us, as we celebrate this remarkable song, come together and sing its full version with our family members, ensuring that this song remains a beacon of inspiration for future generations. In the meantime, the Delhi Assembly is hosting a grand event on Friday to celebrate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, acknowledging the song’s historical and cultural importance.
