Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar Takes Office as Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan Moves to Bihar

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 24 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu has designated Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar as the fresh Governor of Kerala.
He takes over from Arif Mohammed Khan, who has been reassigned as the Governor of Bihar. It is noteworthy that the Bihar Assembly elections are slated for next year.
Arif Mohammed Khan’s duration as Kerala’s Governor was characterized by frequent disputes with the state administration led by the CPI(M). He maintained a challenging rapport with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and was often in conflict with the CPI(M)’s student faction, the SFI, which he once termed a “criminal outfit.”
His candid demeanor and active participation in public issues transformed the Kerala Raj Bhavan into a focal point of political engagement, with the Governor regularly interacting with the press. Rajendra Arlekar, who will now assume the role of Governor of Kerala, was previously the 29th Governor of Bihar and the 21st Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
A leader from BJP in Goa, Arlekar has occupied significant roles, including Cabinet Minister and Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
With a robust RSS background, he was a contemporary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the organization and joined the BJP around the same time as PM Modi.
