Rajkot, April 16 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to foster startups and self-employment, continues to garner positive feedback nationwide. An inspiring narrative emerges from Rajkot, where a local businessman has revitalized his modest salon into a flourishing enterprise thanks to this initiative.
Hiten Joshi, who operates a salon on Nirmala Convent Road in Rajkot, recounted his journey with IANS, detailing how Mudra loans proved pivotal during a crucial phase of his entrepreneurial path.
“In 2023, I was in need of funds to expand my business. I sought assistance from the bank, and the State Bank of India offered me a favorable loan with a low interest rate. This backing enabled my business to thrive. I also ventured into selling cosmetic products at my salon. The cosmetics business demands significant investment, as payment for products is required upfront. Hence, I needed substantial capital. In this regard, the Mudra scheme was incredibly beneficial. Subsequently, when I required another loan, the bank approved it once more, and now I’m successfully operating my business. I firmly believe that the Mudra loan is an excellent resource for aspiring entrepreneurs,” Hiten Joshi shared.
His experience illustrates how the Mudra Yojana has emerged as a dependable financial resource for small business proprietors who may lack access to conventional credit due to insufficient collateral or formal credit history.
The scheme extends loans across various categories: 'Shishu' - covering loans up to Rs 50,000; 'Kishor' - covering loans exceeding 50,000 and up to 5 lakh; 'Tarun' - covering loans above 5 lakh and up to 10 lakh; and 'Tarun Plus' - covering loans exceeding 10 lakh and up to 20 lakh.
The objective is to assist anyone aiming to launch small enterprises in sectors such as MSMEs, barber shops, hotels, retail stores, and more. The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana continues to empower individuals by providing the necessary financial support to achieve self-reliance and entrepreneurial success.
Loans are provided through simplified processes, and banks do not require collateral, facilitating access to funds for first-time entrepreneurs like Joshi.
Numerous such narratives across the nation stand as proof of how PMMY is enabling local entrepreneurs to aspire for greater achievements and create sustainable livelihoods. With ongoing awareness and support, initiatives like the Mudra Yojana are laying the groundwork for a self-sufficient and economically vibrant India.
