Bhopal, July 25 (NationPress) The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is poised to visit Madhya Pradesh to officially commence the construction of a cutting-edge rail coach manufacturing facility in the Raisen district on August 10, according to an official announcement.
The Madhya Pradesh government revealed that this railway coach manufacturing project, valued at Rs 1,800 crore, will represent a significant industrial advancement for the region.
The facility will be developed by BEML, a Bengaluru-based company known for producing a diverse range of heavy machinery, including earthmoving, transport, railway, and mining equipment.
BEML is recognized as Asia's second-largest manufacturer of earth moving machinery. The new facility will be situated in Umaria village, within the Goharganj tehsil of the Raisen district, approximately 50 km from the state capital Bhopal.
The state administration has allocated 60 hectares (or 148 acres) of land for this initiative. The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, initially announced this project during a one-day business meeting in Bengaluru earlier in May.
Prior to the foundation stone-laying ceremony, a delegation led by BEML's Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy, along with Director (Rail and Metro) Rajiv Gupta, met with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday.
During this meeting, the Chief Minister was informed that BEML Ltd has begun preparations for the upcoming event.
This project is being executed in partnership with the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, the Raisen district administration, and other relevant agencies.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister highlighted that this new facility will create significant employment opportunities for local youth and positively impact the region’s economy.
Raghavendra Singh, Principal Secretary of the Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Department, who was also present, stated that the new facility is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment for around 1,575 individuals.
