New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to embark on a three-day official visit to Germany from April 21 to 23, 2026. This visit aims to further enhance the strategic defence alliance between India and Germany while broadening bilateral cooperation.

During his stay, Singh is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, alongside other key officials from the German government, concentrating on pivotal areas of collaboration.

The agenda will focus on boosting defence industrial cooperation, increasing military exchanges, and identifying potential opportunities in emerging fields such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and drone technology.

It is anticipated that both defence ministers will witness the signing of a Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and an Implementing Arrangement for collaboration in UN Peacekeeping Operations Training during this visit.

Officials view these agreements as critical steps toward promoting joint development and co-production of defence materials, according to a press release issued prior to the trip.

This visit will also serve as a significant opportunity to evaluate current defence cooperation projects and explore new paths for collaboration between the defence sectors of both nations.

Singh is likely to meet with prominent figures from the German defence industry to encourage joint ventures, technological partnerships, and co-production initiatives that align with India's ‘Make in India’ program.

This marks the first visit from an Indian Defence Minister to Germany in seven years, highlighting the importance of this diplomatic engagement.

The last visit was made by Nirmala Sitharaman in February 2019. Earlier, Boris Pistorius visited India in June 2023, where he engaged in extensive dialogues with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

India and Germany share a robust and multifaceted strategic partnership grounded in mutual democratic values, adherence to the rule of law, and a collective vision for a rules-based international order.

In recent years, defence and security collaboration has emerged as a vital component of this relationship, with both nations striving to enhance engagement across various domains.
