Chennai, July 31 (NationPress) PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss expressed strong disapproval of the current statewide rally led by his estranged son Anbumani Ramadoss, labeling it as "useless" and devoid of legitimacy, conducted without the approval of the party leadership.
Speaking from his residence in Thailapuram, a site known as the ideological and organizational foundation of the PMK, Ramadoss insisted that the rally lacks official endorsement.
“The core of PMK lies in Thailapuram. The party operates under a single headquarters and leadership. Any rally or initiative that is not sanctioned by this leadership is insignificant. Neither the party's members nor the public will recognize it,” he stated.
Ramadoss also revealed that complaints have been filed with law enforcement and the Home Department regarding the unauthorized nature of Anbumani’s rally. He urged media outlets to refrain from broadcasting or publishing statements from those claiming to be the party’s president unless they have his official recognition.
This controversy unfolds amid a persistent leadership struggle within the party.
Although Anbumani was appointed president of the PMK during a general council meeting in 2022, Ramadoss has recently proclaimed himself as the party president, escalating the internal discord.
The public dispute has exacerbated the rift between the father and son, who were once regarded as the dual pillars of the PMK’s political influence in Tamil Nadu.
When asked about the recent finding of a surveillance device at his Thailapuram home, Ramadoss confirmed that this device has been submitted to the police for further examination.
“There are no updates yet from the authorities. Tamil Nadu’s Cybercrime Wing is among the most capable in the nation. If they act with purpose, they can identify the perpetrator within days. I urge law enforcement to hasten the investigation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Anbumani’s rally, which commenced on July 25 from Thiruporur, is set to conclude in Dharmapuri on November 1. Despite the internal split, he continues to attract support from various factions within the party, keeping the leadership question alive ahead of the 2026 state elections.
