New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) As India prepares for the arrival of the flight carrying Tahawwur Rana to the national capital on Thursday, the accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack is anticipated to be housed in Tihar Jail.

The 64-year-old Rana, facing extradition from the US to face trial in India for his involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks that resulted in numerous fatalities, is expected to be placed in a high-security section of Tihar jail in Delhi upon his arrival, sources indicated.

All necessary arrangements for accommodating the terrorist have been finalized in the jail, they added.

The Pakistan-born Canadian national, who has close ties with one of the primary conspirators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, David Coleman Headley (also known as Daood Gilani), a US citizen, is set to land in Delhi today.

A special chartered flight transporting Rana departed from the US on Wednesday, April 9, marking a pivotal step in India's quest for justice for the 2008 terror incident that claimed 166 lives.

Rana's extradition from the US follows a lengthy legal struggle and the exhaustion of all means to delay his return to India.

Upon his arrival, sources revealed that Rana will be taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is working in tandem with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to coordinate his extradition. He is expected to be presented before a Delhi court shortly thereafter.

Rana faces multiple charges, including criminal conspiracy, waging war against the Government of India, murder, forgery, and violations of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. However, the Mumbai Police have not yet received formal notification regarding his transfer to the city.

In addition to being associated with David Coleman Headley, Rana is believed to have maintained close connections with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
