Chennai, Feb 25 (NationPress) Tamil actress and BJP leader Ranjana Nachiyaar announced her departure from the party on Tuesday, highlighting concerns over its language policy and the perceived neglect of the state.

Nachiyaar, who served as the state Secretary for the party's arts and cultural wing, is anticipated to join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political entity established by Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay.

In her resignation statement, Nachiyaar pointed to the BJP-led NDA Central government's enforcement of the controversial three-language policy and its neglect of Tamil Nadu as key factors for her decision to leave the party.

Expressing her profound disillusionment with the BJP's stance on regional matters, particularly regarding language policy, she remarked: "As a Tamil woman, I cannot accept the imposition of the three-language policy, the escalating hostility towards Dravidians, and the ongoing neglect of Tamil Nadu's needs and aspirations."

Having been affiliated with the BJP for over eight years, Nachiyaar initially joined the party due to its patriotic values, emphasis on nationalism, and devotion to divinity. However, she now perceives the party as having adopted a narrow approach to nationalism, neglecting Tamil Nadu's unique identity.

In her resignation letter, she elaborated on her concerns, stating that the BJP's centralising policies were undermining Tamil Nadu's unique cultural heritage.

"The imposition of the three-language policy jeopardizes the linguistic and cultural integrity of Tamil-speaking individuals. For me, the prosperity of Tamil Nadu is crucial for the safeguarding and advancement of the entire nation. Sadly, the BJP's policies, which marginalize Tamil Nadu's voice, contradict this belief," she explained.

Nachiyaar also expressed her dissatisfaction with the party's treatment of women in politics, noting that although women's political participation has historically been limited, the BJP has not succeeded in fostering and empowering women leaders.

In announcing her new political direction, she reaffirmed her dedication to women’s welfare, regional pride, and social justice. "I am distancing myself from the BJP to forge my own path—a journey where women’s progress, regional autonomy, and social justice are prioritized. This is my new mission, and it represents a transformative journey towards victory."
