Chief Minister Yadav warmly welcomed the Indore-based cricketer, marking a historic moment as Patidar became the first player from Madhya Pradesh to head an Indian Premier League (IPL) team. They engaged in a brief but meaningful discussion.
During this meeting, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation by presenting Patidar with an incentive of ₹5 lakh for his outstanding achievements in cricket and his contributions to the sport in Madhya Pradesh. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's office, this was a courtesy visit.
"Today, I had the pleasure of meeting RCB's captain and our local cricketer, Rajat Patidar. He was honored with an incentive of ₹5 lakh," the Chief Minister shared in a post on X, adding, "Your remarkable performance has brought immense pride to Madhya Pradesh. Wishing you a successful future!"
Patidar, aged 32, made history on June 3 by becoming the first captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to secure the IPL title. Under his guidance, RCB triumphed over Punjab Kings by a narrow margin of six runs in the IPL 2025 final held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
As the first cricketer from Madhya Pradesh to lead a team in an IPL final, Patidar's composed leadership during the tournament received accolades from senior cricketers after RCB's victory. Although he was included in the team for a series against New Zealand, he did not get the chance to play.
Finally, Patidar made his ODI debut on December 21, 2023, against South Africa, scoring 22 runs off 16 balls. He subsequently made his Test debut on February 2, 2024, during the second match against England, scoring 32 and 9 runs in the two innings. Prior to this, Patidar captained Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with a total of 428 runs.
