Patna, May 18 (NationPress) In a significant development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, former Union Minister RCP Singh has officially combined his party, Aap Sabki Aawaz (ASA), with Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party this past Sunday.
This merger was revealed during a joint press conference, marking Singh's fourth party affiliation within just two years.
Welcoming the former union minister into the fold, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor expressed that Singh's inclusion would significantly bolster the party, enhancing its organizational strength and appeal to disenchanted voters.
“Singh's presence will be advantageous not only for the party but also for those seeking a transformative political landscape in Bihar. Our collaboration aims to thwart the BJP's return to power,” Kishor remarked.
Both leaders did not hold back in their criticism of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the current state of the JD(U).
Kishor urged JD(U) members to abandon the “sinking ship,” asserting that decisions are being made by “five contractors” rather than seasoned political figures.
The Jan Suraaj founder alleged that individuals with no political experience are influencing key decisions within both the JD(U) and the state government.
“Nitish Kumar is neither managing the party nor the government. Challenge the five individuals at the helm of JD(U) to name even a district president—they won't be able to do so,” he claimed.
He further condemned the administrative system in Bihar, dubbing it the “Jungleraj of officers.”
Kishor asserted that there exists a leadership and legitimacy vacuum within the current governance framework.
Once seen as a close ally of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and a prominent figure in the JD(U), RCP Singh has encountered a tumultuous political path since being “sidelined” by the party in 2022.
When queried about who would be Jan Suraaj's Chief Ministerial candidate if the party secures a majority, Kishor sidestepped, stating: “At least you’re now recognizing that the next Chief Minister will be from Jan Suraaj. The party will reveal the candidate at the appropriate moment.”
Bearing sensational claims, Kishor disclosed that senior leaders like Ashok Chaudhary and former Congress president Sadanand Singh once urged him to engage with RJD chief Lalu Prasad about possible alliances, but admitted they faced “disrespect” during those discussions.
With this merger, Jan Suraaj is positioning itself as a formidable third alternative, targeting the “disenchanted” voter base of JD(U) while appealing to the youth and middle-class electorate.
