New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) Just two days following a devastating explosion involving a Hyundai i20 at Delhi's Red Fort, which tragically resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals and left numerous others injured, sources from the Delhi Police revealed on Wednesday that they are actively searching for another suspicious vehicle—a red Ford EcoSport—believed to be linked to the same terror group.
As per police reports, an alert has been issued, and five dedicated teams from the Delhi Police are on the lookout for the red EcoSport.
Individuals close to the investigation have indicated that the suspects possessed an additional red vehicle alongside the i20.
All police stations, posts, and border checkpoints across Delhi have been notified to be on the lookout for this particular car.
Furthermore, the police departments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also received alerts about the red vehicle.
On a related note, PM Narendra Modi made a direct visit to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital upon his return from Bhutan on Wednesday, where he interacted with the injured victims from the Red Fort blast.
The Prime Minister arrived in the national capital in the afternoon following a two-day trip to Bhutan.
During his visit to the hospital, he met with the injured and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery.
PM Modi was also briefed by hospital officials and medical staff.
Earlier in the day, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had assembled a specialized team of 10 officers to investigate the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station.
This ten-member team will be led by NIA ADG Vijay Sakhare and will include an IG, two DIGs, three SPs, and several DSP-level officers, as reported on Wednesday.
This development follows the Home Ministry's decision on Tuesday to transfer the investigation of the Delhi blast to the NIA.
The blast occurred on the evening of November 10 when a Haryana-registered vehicle parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, resulting in the death of at least eight people and injuring many more.
Over 1,000 CCTV footage clips are currently under scrutiny by investigators, who suspect that the explosion may have been a suicide attack intended to inflict maximum harm, according to sources from the Delhi Police.
Investigative agencies are also monitoring social media activity and gathering mobile phone data from multiple locations throughout Delhi.
Heightened alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with increased security measures being implemented around crowded public areas and religious sites.
