Hyderabad, May 21 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of retreating from a strong stance against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror incident.

He contrasted Modi's approach with that of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who responded decisively to terrorist acts against Indian citizens, suggesting that the current Prime Minister has not shown similar resolve in addressing threats from Islamabad.

While honoring former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, Revanth Reddy asserted that the Pahalgam attack reminded citizens of Indira Gandhi's bold actions against Pakistan.

He highlighted that Indira Gandhi refused any foreign mediation from the US during wartime, declaring that India's security does not require external intervention.

“In contrast, we now see a situation where the government opts for a ceasefire upon the suggestion of US President Donald Trump,” he remarked.

The Congress leader claimed that BJP officials were attempting to distract from their shortcomings by targeting Rahul Gandhi.

Stressing that protecting national security should transcend politics, he affirmed the state government's dedication to safeguarding the nation.

He criticized Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy for his remarks against Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that Kishan Reddy should have been more supportive of the central government's efforts.

“Our party publicly backed the Centre, and even organized the Tiranga Rally, despite not receiving any acknowledgment,” he stated.

Mentioning the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, the Chief Minister noted that Telangana was the first state to hold a rally in support of the brave soldiers.

During the ceremony, he paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi's statue outside the Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, marking his death anniversary as “Anti-Terrorism Day,” and reaffirming the collective resolve of Indians to combat terrorism.

He expressed that the statues of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and P.V. Narasimha Rao inspire all Indians to strive for national integrity.

Revanth Reddy pointed out that narrow-minded individuals opposed Rajiv Gandhi's statue installation near the Secretariat, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family and the Congress party for the nation.

He commended Rajiv Gandhi's significant contributions to national progress, including empowering the youth by lowering the voting age from 21 to 18, and steering India into a modern, technological era.

Participating in the ceremony were State Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud, several ministers, MPs, and other public officials.
