Hyderabad, April 25 (NationPress) Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of Telangana took the lead on Friday in a candlelight vigil to express outrage over the Pahalgam terror attack.
Notable figures in attendance included Asaduddin Owaisi, President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and MP from Hyderabad, former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin, Congress MLC and actress Vijayashanthi, as well as Mahesh Kumar Goud, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). The rally took place along Necklace Road.
Among the attendees were senior Congress figures such as Salman Khursheed, former foreign affairs minister, and Pawan Khera, who was joined by foreign delegates attending the ongoing Bharat Summit in the city.
The Chief Minister and members of his Cabinet donned black scarves as a sign of mourning for the 26 tourists who tragically lost their lives in the attack.
Ministers including Damodar Raja Narasimha, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi were present at the event.
A significant turnout of participants marched from People's Plaza to the Indira Gandhi statue, waving Indian flags and chanting slogans against Pakistan.
At the rally's conclusion, the Chief Minister expressed that the attack on tourists is completely unacceptable.
He called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to emulate former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who responded decisively to Pakistan in 1971.
Revanth Reddy noted that Atal Bihari Vajpayee admired Indira Gandhi's actions, referring to her as 'Durga Mata'.
"Since Modi ji is a devotee of Durga Mata, he should take inspiration from Indira Gandhi ji and retaliate strongly against Pakistan. We need to divide Pakistan with a single blow and reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir for India," he stated.
He emphasized the importance of transcending political divisions in the battle against terrorism, asserting that all 1.4 billion Indians stand united in this cause.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that the public supports the government's initiatives against Pakistan.
He demanded severe penalties for those involved in the attack, offering condolences to the families of the victims and urging everyone to support them.
