Ranchi, May 5 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), since its initiation nine years back, has instigated a significant and transformative impact on the lives of women across India, especially those from marginalized communities.
Rekha Devi, a resident of Jhumri Tilaiya in the Koderma district of Jharkhand, is among the millions who have experienced a profound change due to this initiative.
With the introduction of LPG cylinders, Rekha Devi and her family now enjoy a smoke-free and healthier lifestyle. Previously reliant on firewood and coal for cooking, they have transitioned to clean fuel.
The clouds of smoke that once filled their home during meal preparation are now a thing of the past, thanks to the availability of LPG.
In an interview with IANS, Rekha Devi recounted her struggles of cooking amidst smoke for years after her marriage, but noted how the PM Ujjwala Yojana has drastically changed their circumstances.
“This scheme has provided us with cooking gas, relieving us from the smoke and saving precious time in meal preparation,” she expressed.
“We are extremely grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this initiative. It has completely transformed our lives,” she added.
Her husband, Swarth Rajak, who works at a dry cleaning store, confirmed that their lives have improved significantly since the launch of PMUY.
Rekha's daughter, Sejal, also shared her perspective with IANS, explaining how the gas cylinders have brought joy and prosperity to their family.
“In the past, there were days we had to go to school without breakfast or a lunchbox, but that is no longer the case,” she stated.
“Since we received the gas connection, everyone’s health at home has noticeably improved,” she concluded.
