Review of Home Department Operations by J&K Lieutenant Governor

Jammu, December 3 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, presided over a review meeting concerning the operations of the Union Territory's Home Department in Jammu on Tuesday.
An official statement indicated that LG Manoj Sinha led a high-level session at Raj Bhawan to assess the performance of the Home Department.
Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Principal Secretary of Home Chandraker Bharti; DGP Nalin Prabhat; DGP Prisons Deepak Kumar; ADGP Hqrs/Coordination M.K Sinha; ADGP Law & Order Vijay Kumar; ADGP Jammu Anand Jain; Director of Fire & Emergency Services Alok Kumar; ADGP CID Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari; IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi; along with other senior officials from the J&K Police.
During the meeting, the chair was updated on critical matters such as Security Related Expenditure (SRE), Manpower Positioning, Infrastructure Works, and various key issues pertaining to the Home and Subordinate Departments, including J&K Police, Prisons, Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards, SDRF, Prosecution, and Forensic Sciences.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of modernization and enhancing the capabilities of the police and related organizations to effectively tackle challenges related to law, order, and security. He also instructed that all projects under SRE and PMDP be finalized within the designated timeframe.
Additionally, the meeting covered topics related to Prison Management, Human Resources, and other aspects concerning internal security and the criminal justice system, according to the statement.
LG Sinha oversees the police, general administration, prisons, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and all-India services such as IAS and IPS in J&K.
To clarify any potential ambiguities regarding the powers of the LG and the elected government, the Union Home Ministry is anticipated to soon issue Rules of Business for J&K.
These forthcoming Rules of Business from the MHA are expected to be modeled after the Puducherry framework, which is a Union Territory with an elected Assembly and a Chief Minister.
